Workshops

Ten workshops are delivered in the first 30 months. Some are for the whole team, some are for dentists only, and some are for team members responsible for specific systems.

Workshop 1 / P.O.W.

  • Production Goals - annual, monthly, daily and hourly for every producer (including employee dentists and hygienists) 
  • Expense goals as percentages of gross production and gross amounts for all overheads. Including Employee costs, Lab, Supplies, Facility expenses, Promotion expenses, Minor expenses, Discretionary expenses, and Take home pay
  • Tools for goal attainment – diagnosis, case presentation, appointment book control, and communication tools
  • Web-Based Reporting – tracking tools to monitor your progress towards reaching your goals
  • Mission Statement - creating a clear vision of the practice you want
  • Management and Leadership – understanding the difference between the two; assessing your Emotional Intelligence; your preferred leadership style; Situational Leadership; delegation. 
  • Change Management - leading your team through change

  • The Emergency Patient - preparing practice guidelines to decrease stress while you handle emergencies

  • Staff Meetings - Developing your staff meetings and group dynamics. How to run effective weekly and daily staff meetings to ensure maximum communication in and around the practice, minimise office politics and create a positive working environment

Workshop 4

  • Active Maintenance – communication skills, systems, and protocols designed to decrease cancellations and increase patient participation and acceptance 
  • Quality Handoffs – how your team communicates to each other and about each other in the presence of patients
  • Appointment Scheduling – fine-tuning the appointment book to maximise the dentists time
  • Patient Prebrief & Debrief – increasing relationships between staff and patients and lifting staff member’s profile in the eye of the patient
  • Record Keeping – guidelines for keeping records in a litigious world
  • Financial Policies and Protocols – reducing stress and confusion by ensuring consistent messages from the team to the patients
  • Effective Feedback – what it is, what it isn’t, how to give it, and how to receive it. Creating a culture where feedback is welcome
  • Performance Reviews – creating a win-win structure for a conversation that focuses on feedback, recognition, growth and development.

  • Managing your Stress - understanding how stress works, how well you cope with stress, and strategies for greater work-life balance and well-being.
  • Management and Leadership - understanding your own and others’ behaviour to improve communication and teamwork. Assess your own personal style using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
