There is a wise saying that says we should ‘always hope for the best and plan for the worst’. Having worked closely with hundreds of dentists, I have seen a very common business error repeatedly made that leads to enormous stress and financial loss. All working relationships will eventually come to an end. While most dentists will spend a lot of time working out how they should work with employees, contractors or partners, they rarely look into the details of how the relationships will end. Integrating a new dentist into your practice

You both agree on remuneration and have a work agreement put in place that you both sign and are happy with. For most practices the recruitment process would end at this point and be deemed a success. End of financial year advice

From time to time some accounting advice comes our way that we feel we must pass on to our subscribers. June 30, 2009 will mark the end of the possibility of taking advantage of the temporary 30% investment allowance rate offer from the ATO for any new capital purchases for your dental practice. If you're considering that sometime in the next 12 - 18 months you will be purchasing new dental equipment of note (anything from computers, software, autoclaves, dental chairs, x-rays, cad-cam systems, cerec, E4D, lasers OPGs, etc) then maybe you should be bringing that purchase forward to now! Obviously check with your accountant to see if this advice applies to you and how your practice can benefit from this. If you can benefit from this ring your dental supply company and start the process sooner rather than later to avoid the stress of doing it at the last minute.

CSI Perth 2009

The 33rd Australian Dental Congress and exhibition was held on the 12-15 March 2009 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre in Perth. Prime Practice and Dentist Job Search had a booth there. It was great to see so many of you. Thank you to everyone who came over for a chat or told their friend to come talk to us about our services. You made the trip over very worthwhile and a great success for us.
